Mr Keith Gomes – MBBS, BMedSci(Hons), FRACS
Mr Keith Gomes graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia in 1997. He obtained a Bachelor of Medical Science with honors the same year. He subsequently did his internship and junior residency training at The Alfred Hospital.
He completed his Neurosurgical training through the Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011. He underwent subspecialty training in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery at the Foothills Hospital, University of Calgary, Canada from 2012 to 2014. This included buyterm paperonline extensive experience in Movement Disorder surgery using Deep Brain Stimulation. This fellowship also gave him experience in all forms of treatment for trigeminal neuralgia including radiosurgery, percutaneous treatments and micro vascular decompression. He was also involved with the management of pain and has experience with spinal cord and occipital nerve stimulation. He underwent further subspecialty training in Complex Spine Surgery in Bristol, UK in 2014. Here he was working with both neurosurgical and orthopaedic spinal surgeons. He is also appointed as Adjunct Lecturer at Monash University.
Mr Gomesa�� interests include Functional neurosurgery and Complex Spine surgery as well as Neuro-oncology. He has an interest in traumatic brain injury and consults at the Acquired Brain Injury Unit, Caulfield Hospital. He has been involved with research in the fields of neural prosthetics, image guidance, traumatic brain injury and neurosurgical audit systems.
He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Neurosurgical Society of Australasia
He consults public patients at the Alfred Hospital and private patients at 517 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne. He has Private VMO Appointments at the Epworth and Knox Private Hospitals.
